Natural Vitiligo Remedies
1. Babchi seeds
When combined with tamarind powder, babchi seeds make one of the most effective natural remedies for this skin problem. Soak equal amounts of both seeds in water over a period of 3 to 4 days.
Shell and dry them in the shade and then crush them to get a paste. Apply the resultant paste to the white patches for about a week. Some skins, however, may be sensitive to babchi.
2. Ginkgo biloba
Ginkgo biloba, when given in a 40mg dose three times a day, has been shown to be effective in preventing the growth and spread of vitiligo.
In some of cases, re-pigmentation may also occur. These results, however, are yet to be confirmed by any larger trial.
3. Turmeric and mustard oil
Another common home remedy for the skin problem is turmeric mixed with mustard oil. Hammer about 500 grams of turmeric and then soak it in 8 liters of water over the night. Boil the mixture in the morning, leaving about an eighth of the original volume.
Take the resultant liquid, strain and mix it with about 500 grams of mustard oil. Next up, heat the mixture till only oil is left. Apply this on your white patches each morning and evening.
4. Psoralea seeds
Psoralea seeds, when soaked in ginger juice for 3 days, make one of the best natural remedies for vitiligo. The seeds are also used to make ultraviolet phototherapy, one of the best treatment for this skin condition.
After soaking your psoralea seeds for 3 days, remove the shell by rubbing the seeds with hands and then dry them in shade . Grind into a powder. Take a gram of the powder every day with milk for about 40 days without interruption.
5. Basil leaves & lime juice
Basil has essential anti-viral properties that are beneficial for your skin. A paste of Basil leaves mixed with lime juice can also promote the production of melanin and is an effective natural treatment for vitiligo. For best results, apply the mixture about 3 times a day for 6 months.
